Technical FAQ
Q1: What should I consider when choosing a rugged monitor for in-vehicle applications?
A: Key considerations include display brightness, touch usability, vibration resistance, power input, operating temperature, mounting, and cable connectivity. For outdoor or mobile applications, optical bonding, anti-glare treatment, secure connectors, and wide-voltage support can also improve usability and installation reliability. The VDM-101HD combines a 1000-nit optically bonded touchscreen, lockable connectivity, 9–48V DC input, and a rugged fanless design for demanding vehicle environments.
Q2: How does the VDM-101HD One-Cable Solution simplify in-vehicle display installation?
A: The One-Cable Solution combines power, video, audio, and touch signals through a single custom DVI cable, reducing the number of separate cables required between the monitor and host computer. This simplifies cable routing and installation inside space-constrained vehicle cabins while reducing the number of connection points. A lockable DVI connector also helps maintain a secure physical connection in vibration-prone environments.
Q3: What display features improve screen readability in direct sunlight?
A: High brightness alone does not determine outdoor readability. The VDM-101HD combines a 1000-nit display with optical bonding and anti-glare treatment to help reduce reflections and improve image visibility under bright ambient light. A 178° viewing angle also supports screen visibility from different positions inside the vehicle, while anti-fingerprint treatment helps maintain display clarity during frequent touchscreen use.
Q4: Can the VDM-101HD be used in vehicles exposed to vibration, temperature changes, and outdoor conditions?
A: Yes. The VDM-101HD operates from -20°C to 60°C under specified airflow conditions and supports a 9–48V DC input. Its front frame is rated IP66, and the monitor is tested according to MIL-STD-810G Method 514.6 for vibration and Method 516.6 for shock. It is also E-Mark certified for vehicle applications. Environmental protection for the complete installation depends on factors such as mounting, cabling, connectors, and enclosure integration.
Q5: Can the VDM-101HD connect to computers other than selected SINTRONES systems?
A: Yes. The One-Cable Solution uses custom DVI cables designed for selected SINTRONES systems, including the VBOX-3650, VBOX-3630, VBOX-3123, SBOX-2623, SBOX-2603, and IBOX-500 Series. For other compatible computers, custom DVI-to-combo cables are available to separate the connection into standard interfaces such as DisplayPort or HDMI, USB, RS-232, audio, and power. Compatibility should be verified against the host system’s available interfaces and required touch, audio, and power functions.
