A: Processor selection should be based on workload complexity, multitasking requirements, graphics demand, and power considerations. Intel® Core™ i7 and i5 configurations are better suited to heavier workloads such as real-time monitoring, multi-application processing, and data-intensive vehicle systems. Core™ i3 provides a balanced option for moderate computing workloads, while Celeron® is suitable for lighter applications where processing requirements are more limited.
Q2: Can the VBOX-3122 support multiple displays for in-vehicle HMI and monitoring applications?
A: Yes. The VBOX-3122 provides two HDMI® 2.0b outputs and one DVI-D output, enabling up to three displays to be connected for applications such as driver HMI, passenger information, video monitoring, dispatch systems, and operational dashboards. Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics is available with the Core™ processor configurations, while the Celeron® configuration uses Intel® UHD Graphics.
Q3: How can the VBOX-3122 connect to vehicle networks, sensors, and legacy devices?
A: The VBOX-3122 provides two RS-232/422/485 ports, digital I/O, analog inputs, USB, 2.5GbE, and GbE connectivity. Optional CAN expansion is also available through an internal Mini PCIe slot. These interfaces allow vehicle data, sensors, controllers, legacy serial devices, displays, and network equipment to be connected to a single in-vehicle computing platform.
Q4: How can the VBOX-3122 support 5G/LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, and other communication requirements?
A: Multiple internal expansion interfaces support different communication configurations. An M.2 B-key slot with dual SIM sockets supports 5G/LTE expansion, while an M.2 E-key slot supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Additional Mini PCIe slots can be used for GPS, CAN, or other compatible modules. Six pre-cut antenna openings provide flexibility for external wireless antennas.
Q5: How does the VBOX-3122 handle unexpected vehicle power interruptions?
A: The VBOX-3122 supports a 9–60V DC input with ignition management and configurable power-off delay for vehicle installations. An optional internal battery backup unit provides approximately 10 minutes of temporary operation, depending on total system power consumption. This provides additional time to preserve critical data, maintain short-term operation, or perform a controlled shutdown when external power is unexpectedly interrupted.
